Session 3: Expanding Horizons

Our teens need opportunities to take healthy risks to learn, grow, and thrive! Each time we try something new we're taking a risk, and teens need support to navigate their comfort zones.

That means being there to answer questions without stigma or shame and really listening. Listening is key because young people know their day-to-day world better than anyone else. Understanding healthy risk-taking and setting healthy boundaries is a foundational strategy for supporting new ideas, trying on new values and identities, and learning from our mistakes.

In week three of our summer series, we will explore Expanding Horizons. This is an opportunity to equip girls with tools to support healthy risk-taking and teach them that trusting themselves to make their own choices is critical for building confidence and life skills.

Healthy Risk Taking & Setting Boundaries strategies often create the pathways to:

• Stronger coping mechanisms and faster recovery from life challenges
• Empowerment in decision making that influence positive outcomes
• The confidence and clarity to set healthy boundaries
• An ability to see situations from multiple perspectives and create a better understanding with others
• Healthier self-talk and body image
• Better discernment and decision making
