Skills take reps.

Her · 9:47 PM on a Tuesday

she hasn't texted me back in like 3 hours

she's definitely mad at me 🙃

What do you actually know so far?

...that she hasn't texted back

ok fine maybe she's at practice

Sound familiar?

Nobody hands her a manual for friendship.

Yet somehow she's supposed to just know how to make friends, keep them, handle conflict, survive being left out, and know who to trust. That's a lot for anyone, let alone a 12-year-old with a group chat.

Here's the good news: these are skills. Skills can be learned. And skills take reps. This challenge gives her seven of them, one tiny practice at a time.

How it works

Small enough to actually do.

1

Watch a quick video

Each day, an email lands with a 60 to 90 second video from Jill & Mary. Short, a little silly, and totally real.

2

Do one tiny rep

One small challenge, two minutes or less. Send a text, ask a question, say one sentence out loud. That's it. Rep done.

3

Mom, your turn

Every day has an optional rep for you too. Because friendship deserves effort at every age, and she's watching how you do it.

The 7 days

Seven skills. Seven tiny reps.

Each day builds on the last and connects to pages in the guide, so when real friend stuff happens, she knows exactly where to flip.

  1. 1Noticing

    Make her feel seen

Tell one friend something specific she appreciates about her. Thirty seconds, real impact.

  2. 2Listening

    Let her have her moment

Ask one follow-up question before jumping in with her own story.

  3. 3Perspective

    Check the story

"She's definitely mad at me." Separating what she knows from what she's guessing.

  4. 4Pausing

    Take a beat

The words to use right before she hits send on the spicy text.

  5. 5Speaking up

    Say the thing

Swapping "I'm fine" for one clear, kind sentence about what bothered her.

  6. 6Ownership

    Own your piece

How to give a real apology (no "but you never said...") and actually repair.

  7. 7Keep it going

    Pick your keeper

She chooses the one skill she wants to keep practicing, and makes a tiny plan to use it next week.

Why a challenge?

She's heard the "shoulds." This is the "how."

Girls get a lot of friendship advice. Very little of it tells them what to actually say in the moment. Every day of this challenge gives her real words she can practice before she needs them.

"Don't overthink it."
How to check the story before she spirals.

"Just tell her how you feel."
How to say the thing in one clear, kind sentence.

"Just say sorry."
How to own her piece and actually repair it.

Reps!Practicing now makes the words easier to find later, when her heart is pounding and the group chat is blowing up.

After 7 days

She'll have the words when it counts.

  • Easy ways to make the people she cares about feel seen
  • A habit of pausing to ask "what do I actually know?"
  • A go-to sentence for when she's upset and needs a minute
  • The confidence to say what bothered her, clearly and kindly
  • A real apology formula (and the reminder that one mistake isn't who she is)
  • The truth that she gets to have needs in her friendships, too

A quick note from us

We've sat in a lot of circles with a lot of girls. No matter the age, school, or sport, the thing that comes up most is friendship. Who sat where. Who said what. Who stopped texting back.

We wrote The Good Friend Guide so girls would have real tools, not just "be nice" advice. Then we realized a guide only works if it gets used. So we made it a challenge: tiny, doable, a little bit goofy, and real.

Seven days. Two minutes a day. We'll be cheering for her the whole way. 💛

Good questions

Before you jump in

What do I get for $59?

The Good Friend Guide (37 pages, yours to keep), seven short videos from Jill & Mary, and seven daily emails with her rep, a sentence starter, and the guide pages to go with it.

When does it start?

[START: e.g. "Day 1 lands in your inbox the morning after you join." or "Together on (date)."]

What ages is this for?

It's made for girls 10–14, but the skills work at every age. (Mom reps included!)

Does she do it alone or with me?

The daily emails are written to her, so she can do the reps on her own. Each one also has a "Mom, your turn" rep if you want to practice alongside her. Doing it together is where the magic happens, but there's no wrong way.

How much time does it take?

Each video is 60 to 90 seconds and each rep takes two minutes or less. Reading the guide pages is a bonus, never homework.

What if we miss a day?

No guilt. Every day stays waiting in your inbox, so just pick up whenever you're ready.
