Girls and counting

A front-row seat to what girls are navigating.

Since 2020, we've worked alongside tween and teen girls through summer camps, after-school programs, school partnerships, workshops, and mentorship. We've listened to their stories, watched them practice these skills in real time, and learned a whole lot about what girls are navigating, and what actually helps.

Our curriculum isn't built around what we think girls need. It's shaped by what we've watched them navigate in real life.

What she walks away with

Imagine her walking away with…

More confidence navigating friendship shifts.

Not because friendships suddenly become easy, but because she has a framework for slowing down, figuring out what's actually happening, and deciding what she wants to do next.

Language for the conversations that feel hard.

Instead of knowing something feels off but having no idea what to say, she's practiced communicating clearly, speaking up for herself, and navigating uncomfortable conversations.

Tools to stop a story before it runs away with her.

One unanswered text can become "she's mad at me," "I did something wrong," or "nobody likes me" pretty freaking fast. She'll practice separating what actually happened from the story she's telling herself.

More clarity around what's hers to own, and what isn't.

Not taking all the blame. Not placing all the blame. Learning to own her choices, her words, her reactions, and what she can do next, without carrying the whole pie.

Practice knowing when to speak up and when to let it go.

Not every uncomfortable moment requires a confrontation, and not every one should be ignored. She'll practice asking: Does this need a conversation? A boundary? A different perspective? Or is this something I can release?

More trust in herself to figure out what comes next.

She doesn't need to have every answer. We want her to start trusting that she has what it takes to find one.

A peek at the practice

"Okay, but what do I actually say?"

We make room for that question. Pick a moment and see the tool she'll practice.

A mentor taking a selfie with four smiling girls
The factYou see a photo of friends together. You weren't there.
The story“They don't like me anymore.”
A tool to tryPause the story. Get curious.“I saw you all hung out. I'd love to join next time!”Then notice what happens, rather than deciding what everyone thinks.

She practices all three, out loud, with girls her age, before the stakes feel real.

Why now?

We're nearly halfway through the school year. And we're starting to see it.

We work with girls every day, and the same things show up again and again.

Friendships are shifting.

Group chats are complicated.

Comparison is creeping in.

Confidence is taking some hits.

Girls are overthinking what someone said, what they meant, why they weren't included, whether they should speak up… or whether they should just let it go. And we're hearing it from parents, too.

Maybe you're seeing some of it at home. Or maybe she's doing great.

We think both girls deserve the tools.

We don't believe we have to wait until something becomes a problem before we teach girls how to navigate it.

If she's already struggling

Let's give her somewhere to practice.

If she's thriving

Let's give her the tools before she needs them.

One day can give her something to reach for when real life happens.

No, we're not promising to solve every friendship problem, eliminate comparison, or make middle school magically easy in one day. That's not how this works. But one intentional day can give her:

  • Questions she knows how to ask herself.
  • Language for a conversation she didn't know how to have.
  • A way to separate what happened from what she's assuming it means.
  • Practice speaking up before she has to do it when the stakes feel higher.
  • A framework for deciding what's hers to own.
  • A reminder that someone else's choices don't determine her worth.
  • A little more trust in herself to decide what comes next.

Our goal is for her to walk away thinking

"I have tools. I trust myself. I know what I can do next."

Introducing ONE-DAYA Girls Mentorship experience, packed into one really intentional, really fun day.

6 hoursIn personSmall groupsPOWER curriculum

ONE-DAY gives girls time to learn, talk about, practice, and actually USE the skills that are hard to figure out in the moment.

We're taking some of our favorite lessons and tools from our signature POWER curriculum (the same one we use in our camps, after-school programs, mentorship programs, and workshops) and building one day around what girls are navigating right now. We're not going to spend six hours talking at them. We'll practice these skills in real time.

Knowing she should speak up → Knowing how to speak up

Being told "don't overthink it" → Separating fact from story

Hearing "just be confident" → Trusting herself to decide what to do next

Girls need reps. And ONE-DAY gives them somewhere to get them.

One day. A whole lot packed into it.

Real-life tools for the stuff girls are actually navigating.

Fact vs. story

Get Curious Before You Get Carried Away

Learn to separate what actually happened from the story she's telling herself about it.

Communication

Say What You Mean (Without Being Mean)

Practice using her voice, communicating clearly, and saying the hard thing respectfully.

Ownership

Own Your Slice of the Pie

Recognize what's hers to take responsibility for without taking the blame for everything.

Comparison

Stop Measuring Herself Against Everyone Else

Notice when comparison is taking over and practice bringing the focus back to her own worth.

Boundaries

Know When to Speak Up (and When to Move On)

Practice recognizing when a situation calls for a conversation, a boundary, or a little perspective.

Friendship

Navigate Friendships Without Losing Herself

Explore changing dynamics, different perspectives, and how to stay true to herself along the way.

Real-life practice

Having a tool and being able to use it when emotions are high are two very different things. Throughout the day, she'll:

Talk it out. Role-play it. Try it. Mess it up. Try again. Build the reps.

So when real life gives her a chance to use the skill, it won't be the first time.

And yes… it's actually fun.

This is Girls Mentorship. We're not putting your daughter in a chair for six hours and lecturing her about communication.

Yes, this sounds amazing

Don't just take our word for it

What parents told us after Girls Mentorship camp.

"Life changers!! She came home today the most positive I've ever heard her be."

Chevon, camp parent

"Couldn't be more thankful for the program you ladies have created. Never seen so much growth in my child in such a quick amount of time."

Jon S., camp parent

"Kinley gave you the HIGHEST of compliments! She told me that you pulled her aside to check in with her. She said "you're really cool" and "she just gets it, ya know.""

Beth S., camp parent

"The spark it put back in her has been so good to see. These past few years have been rough and the skills she learned at camp and the energy she was surrounded with has been truly transformative."

Taylor's mom

"Seeing her hug a new friend when I walked in the door almost brought me to tears."

Camp parent, by text

"I see the wheels turning in Julia. I am thankful to have found a place that focuses on teaching girls how to speak up, how to stand strong in who they are, and how to lift each other up with kindness and compassion."

Jennifer S., camp parent

"Lindsay has continued to bring up ah-ha moments and things she learned and felt good about. Also loved that you posted things that I could also start conversations about."

Lindsay's mom

"Mills said this is the most positive feeling she has felt in a really long time."

Amber J., camp parent

Messages shared with permission from Girls Mentorship summer camp families. ONE-DAY uses the same POWER curriculum.

We can wait until she needs the tools.

  • Until the friendship gets complicated.
  • Until she's replaying the group chat in her head.
  • Until comparison starts messing with how she sees herself.
  • Until she knows something feels off but has no idea what to say.
  • Until you're sitting on the edge of her bed trying to help her navigate something you wish she already felt more equipped to handle.

Or we can give her the tools now.

Before the friendship gets hard. Before the uncomfortable conversation. Before she's standing in the middle of a situation trying to figure out what the heck to do next.

We can't prepare her for every single thing she'll experience. But we can give her language, frameworks, chances to practice, and a little more trust in her own ability to figure things out.

She doesn't have to be struggling to start. And if she is? Let's give her somewhere to practice.

For the girl moms (and dads)

Good questions. Real answers.

Because you're choosing more than a way to fill a Saturday or Sunday.

One day won't remove every hard moment she'll face.

But it can help her feel more equipped for the next one.

We don't have to wait until she needs the tools. We can give them to her now.
