An Internship-Style Experience for Peer Leaders
The Leadership Lab

Why We Created the Leadership Lab

The Leadership Lab was created for Peer Leaders who want to go beyond their core camp role and step into structured, meaningful responsibility.

While the Peer Leader role already builds confidence and leadership, service hours are meant to reflect contribution beyond standard expectations. The Leadership Lab provides that opportunity with clarity, structure, and purpose.

The Leadership Lab exists to:

  • Bring integrity and intention to service hours
  • Offer real responsibility, not filler tasks
  • Provide hands-on experience in areas of interest
  • Help girls explore future paths before they’re expected to have it all figured out

How Service Hours Are Earned

Peer Leaders earn service hours by stepping into real behind-the-scenes leadership opportunities throughout the camp season.

These rotations allow them to experience different areas of responsibility while contributing in meaningful ways.

We believe leadership grows fastest when girls are invited behind the curtain.

Running a mission-driven organization is creative, collaborative, and yes, fun. The Leadership Lab gives girls the chance to experience that firsthand. They contribute ideas, help execute plans, and even test their own ideas in a supportive environment.

They do not just observe. They participate.

Opportunities may include:

Event Setup & Operations

For Peer Leaders curious about how big ideas turn into real experiences.

What She’ll Do:

âś” Support decor installation and breakdown
âś” Help manage event flow and space organization
âś” Assist during scheduled setup days before camp and end-of-summer teardown

Why This Matters:

Girls see how experiences are built step by step and how creativity, logistics, and teamwork work together to make something meaningful happen.

Business & Merchandising

For Peer Leaders curious about how a business actually runs and who thrive in fast-paced, people-facing environments.

What She’ll Do:

âś” Help operate the Snack Shack
âś” Support inventory and merchandising
âś” Assist with customer interactions and transactions

Why This Matters:

This is a hands-on introduction to business fundamentals like retail, entrepreneurship, operations, and customer service, all while contributing meaningfully to camp.

Marketing & Social Media

For creative storytellers ready to use social media with intention and responsibility.

What She’ll Do:

âś” Participate in creative briefings
âś” Capture approved content
âś” Assist with storytelling and brand messaging
âś” Learn digital responsibility and consent practices

Why This Matters:

Girls move from consuming content to creating with purpose while building real-world communication skills they can use far beyond camp.

Important to Know

Leadership Lab hours are earned outside of standard Peer Leader responsibilities. Participation is optional, structured, and supervised.

Spots are intentionally limited to ensure strong mentorship and thoughtful oversight.

Specific dates and time blocks for earning hours will be shared in advance, and Peer Leaders may have the opportunity to earn hours across multiple areas depending on scheduling and program needs.
